Children's Ministry

In addition to our Sunday morning educational opportunities, The First Baptist Church of Ahoskie provides missions and music education for its Children and Youth.

Children's Music & Missions

Music Friends
Ages: 3, 4, 5 & K
When: Wednesdays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm, Sept. - May
Place: Room 104

Mission Friends
Ages: 3, 4, 5 & K
When: 2nd & 4th Sundays during worship.
Place: Rooms 105 & 106 A-B

*Note: Grades 1-6 Music & Missions is integrated together into the one hour Wednesday evenings.

Other Children's Opportunities

Terrific Tuesdays
Time: One month during the summer, 10 am - 12 noon.
For: Ages 3 - K
Format: A Bible study, music, and arts & crafts time.

Multi-Church Vacation Bible School
Time: Usually held in July or August.
Format: Since 1991, five Ahoskie churches have partnered together to offer a Multi-Church Vacation Bible School for our community. The Planning Team consists of members from each church: the United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, and St. Thomas' Episcopal Church. The churches take turns hosting VBS.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Time: First Saturday of October in conjunction with Ahoskie Heritage Day.
For: Age 3 - Grade 6
Format: Pumpkins and decorating supplies are provided. Pumpkins are judged in age-appropriate categories and small prizes are awarded.

Trunk or Treat
Time: The Sunday afternoon/evening before October 31st.
For: Birth to Age 100+
Format: While a soup & sandwich supper is served in the Fellowship Hall, we play Candy Corn Bingo. Then the children are escorted to Carnival-style games while adults go to our Church St. parking lot and decorate their car trunks or truck beds. The children are escorted to the parking lot where they trick or treat from trunk to trunk. Hosted by our Youth Ministry Council.

Birthday Party for Jesus
Time: Usually held on a Saturday in December.
For: Grades 1-6
Format: A Bible study, music, missions, and arts & crafts time centered on celebrating the birthday of Jesus.
