It is my great pleasure to announce that First Baptist Ahoskie has a new youth and children’s minister. Elizabeth Miller-Villegas will assume her responsibilities on January 2, 2018. Elizabeth is an extremely gifted and qualified minister of the good news of Jesus the Christ. She comes to us with the full approval of the personnel committee, the deacon body, and the pastor. Allow me to share a few more details about Elizabeth so you can better understand why our church leadership is so pleased to have her on board.

Elizabeth graduated from Chowan University in 2012 with a degree in psychology. She then went to Campbell University Divinity School. She graduated from Campbell Divinity School in 2017 with a Master of Divinity degree. In the past, she has served as Co-Minister to Youth at Creedmoor United Methodist Church in Creedmoor, NC; volunteer youth minister at Rose Hill United Methodist Church in Rose Hill, NC; and as minister to youth and children at Ann Street United Methodist Church in Beaufort, NC. Elizabeth’s husband Jason serves as pastor to Murfreesboro United Methodist Church. They have two preschool boys, Phillip and Worth. The Villegas family resides in Murfreesboro.

Please note that Elizabeth’s responsibilities will include children as well as youth. I am especially pleased that we are able to call someone who has experience with children as well as youth. Furthermore, we were impressed with Elizabeth’s ideas for assisting the parents of children and youth in passing on their Christian faith to their daughters and sons. I sense strongly that Elizabeth is a great catch for us!

In Christ,

Paul R. Gilliam III
