Discover a warm and engaging community at FBC Ahoskie
Welcome
Welcome to the website for First Baptist Church of Ahoskie!
Perhaps you’ve landed here because you are considering joining us for the first time, or perhaps you have visited a time or two but want more information. Regardless, we hope that you find our site informative and helpful in getting a clearer picture of who we are.
Information is just a first step, though. We look forward to seeing you in person, whether for worship, study, fellowship, or mission. You are always welcome—no exceptions!
Below are some questions that many visitors have.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
First Baptist Church meets at the corner of Main and West streets in downtown Ahoskie.
On our Contact Us page, you’ll see a small map of our church neighborhood, which you can click for more detail and driving directions.
Where should I park?
While there is ample street parking around our church, you are always invited to park in one of two parking lots—one adjacent to our church on Main Street, and another larger lot across from our church between Main and Church streets.
What should I wear?
Many folks dress in what might be called “business attire,” though you’ll find us in a variety of dress—some men wear coats and ties, while others sport a golf shirt and slacks.
Many women wear dresses, while others are comfortable in slacks. The point is this—you are welcome no matter how you are dressed.
How would you describe your worship service and how long does it last?
Our worship services generally last an hour (11:00 am to noon).
Our worship services may be described as “traditional” in nature. That is, we experience worship through hymns, responsive readings and prayers, scripture readings from the Revised Common Lectionary, musical meditations by our various choirs and instrumentalists, testimonies of faith, and preaching from God’s word.
While our services are “traditional” in nature, we strive to create worship experiences that are warm and friendly, as well as creative and engaging to the worshiper.
Describing worship is hard. We think it’s best for you to come join us and find out for yourself!
What about my children during worship?
We provide nursery care for infants and toddlers during Sunday School and Worship in the preschool area of our children’s wing (located on the ground floor).
Preschoolers are invited to worship and then, following the children’s sermon, they continue their worship and learning in Extended Session, staffed by dedicated and trained volunteers. Children in First Grade and beyond, we believe, are mature enough (and inquisitive enough!) to join their families throughout the worship service.
